What inspired you to get into medicine?
My mother is a nurse, and I wanted to be a nurse too. I have been in health care since I was 16-years-old working as a nursing assistant. My husband really encouraged my growth into a Nurse Practitioner. He believed in me. I am very compassionate and have always been drawn to helping people understand their conditions.
What do you enjoy about working in the medical field and at Astera Health?
I love educating patients -- I use drawings to explain certain conditions such as irregularities of the heart or heart failure. I love being there for my patients through the tough times. Astera Health values and cares about the community and its employees and every person that works here matters. The services offered here are impressive for a smaller facility.
What can patients expect from you when coming in for an appointment?
I will listen and provide the best care I can. I will take my time and educate people on their conditions and try to answer their questions to the best of my ability. I feel good two-way communication is the key to getting to the bottom of some conditions and also important for maintaining a good relationship.
What do you like to do in your downtime?
My husband and I, along with our two kids, enjoy gardening and working in our flower beds. We also enjoy camping, hunting and ice fishing. My daughter and I like to bake cookies together.
What is one interesting, unique or fun thing that most people may not know about you?
I am a geek! I enjoy playing computer games when no one is home!
