Women deserve reliable, attentive care throughout their pregnancies and entire life. Astera Health’s certified nurse midwife would love to walk with you every step of the way.

Is Midwifery for You?

Certified nurse midwives (CNMs) deliver hands-on care from prenatal to postpartum and a full range of primary healthcare for women throughout their entire lives.

They are trained in nursing and midwifery, receiving either a master’s or doctorate degree upon graduation. They also take a national certification exam through the American Midwifery Certification Board.

A Holistic Approach

CNMs differ from OB/GYNs in that they typically take a holistic approach in their practice, meaning they look at the whole picture of your care, including mental health, socioeconomic status, family dynamics, workplace conditions, and general mood toward your health.

Education and Motivation

CNMs believe in providing education in all aspects of health that affect not only you but your entire family. They devote ample appointment time to instruct and encourage you in areas such as nutrition, exercise, caring for a newborn, preventive care, and other facets of your pregnancy and general health.
