Background
I worked in a laboratory for 13 years in the Fargo, North Dakota, area before changing careers. I have bachelor’s degrees in clinical laboratory science and microbiology. My husband and I have two daughters. I grew up on a local dairy farm near Bluffton, graduated from Wadena-Deer Creek High School, and my family and I recently relocated back to the area. I am proud to be from the area and love serving my community!
What inspired you to get into medicine?
I have always been interested in science and “problem solving.” I loved my previous career in the laboratory, but I was ready for a new challenge that gave me opportunities to provide direct patient care. Being a Physician Assistant is a great fit for me because it allows me to combine all of my interests to provide the best care that I can to my patients.
What is your favorite part about working in medicine?
I enjoy getting to know patients and their families. It's incredibly rewarding to be able to help and support someone through a challenging medical situation.
What can a patient expect from you as a provider?
I will listen to their concerns and provide the best possible care that I can. I consider myself and the patient to be a team as we work through their health concerns together.
Why choose Astera Health?
One thing that has impressed me about Astera Health is the wide variety of services that we are able to offer our patients that are typically not available at other rural hospitals and clinics.
What do you like to do in your downtime?
My family and I like to spend time hunting, fishing, traveling, and other outdoor activities together. I also enjoy gardening, canning, trying new recipes, and looking for “treasures” at flea markets and garage sales.
