What made you decide to pursue a career in medicine?
I have always wanted to be a doctor. I actually have a certificate from when I was 6-years-old that I completed a doctor-in-training program. I always thought I was going to be an Obstetrician, but when I got to that rotation in medical school, I realized I wanted to not only care for the mothers, but continue to care for the babies as well. I love getting to be a part of the child's birth and then care for them as they grow up!
What is your favorite part about working in the medical field and at Astera Health?
I love all the people and families I have met throughout the years. They start as my patients and become my family! That extends throughout the organization as well - Astera Health has such a strong love for the community and it really shows!
What is the most important factor in a patient/provider relationship?
Trust! Your provider is someone you share all of your concerns with and it's often difficult to talk about. The patient must trust the provider with all of those concerns so they can truly take care of them.
What do you like to do in your downtime?
I enjoy spending time with my husband and 3 children. I like to read, run, fish, and golf.
