What inspired you to get into medicine?
I enjoy being a part of people’s lives and helping them through all of the good times and bad times. Family Medicine is from the miracle of birth to the tragedy of death and everything in between, and I am honored to be part of it all.
What is your favorite part of working in the medical field?
The constant learning and evolving of my practice. The days may get long but they are never boring!
What do you enjoy about Astera Health?
I love our culture of respect and collegial professionalism among our administration, nursing, lab techs, radiology techs, registration, and providers. This is truly a family!
What can a patient expect from you as a provider?
They can expect to be the most important person during their visit. I will listen to their concerns, provide my medical advice, and then work together to come up with an acceptable treatment plan that addresses their needs. I work hard to give prompt follow-ups and communicate if there are any changes.
What do you like to do in your downtime?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends, volunteering, attending my children's activities, planning and enjoying family vacations, reading science fiction, fishing and cheering on the Minnesota Twins. My husband, Kent, and I reside in Wadena and have four children. Zoe graduated high school, Kate and Michael are currently in college, and Ryann attends Wadena-Deer Creek Schools.
What is one interesting, unique or fun thing that most people may not know about you?
I have had manual transmission vehicles since I could drive. I am also a thyroid cancer survivor.
