Background

A graduate of Henning High School, Amy always knew she wanted to work in a rural health care setting. She first became an LPN, then an RN, and finished her Master's Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. After five years of working in the Sebeka, Bertha and Ottertail satellite clinics, Amy returned to her hometown of Henning where she has been practicing since 2007.

What inspired you to get into medicine?

I have always known that I wanted to work in medicine in a rural health care setting. I am blessed to work in my hometown of Henning, where my children can attend the same school I graduated from.

What do you enjoy most about working in the medical field?

I really enjoy getting to know my patients and often treat entire families and generations within that same family. I love hearing from patients how everyone in the family is doing! Working in a small town, and my hometown, I really enjoy making connections with the community!

What can patients expect when coming in for an appointment?

I will be their biggest advocate. When facing something scary or new, I will be right by their side to help them navigate the health care system to ensure they obtain the best possible care. They can also expect laughter, hugs and tears as we are all in this together!

What do you like to do in your downtime?

I am a loyal fan to all Henning activities: Otter Tail Central football, Henning Hornet volleyball and basketball. You name it, I am there to support it. You can find me at all the games, along with my husband and kids! I also run the youth group at my church.

What is one interesting, unique or fun thing that most people may not know about you?

People may not know that I was born at Astera Hospital in Wadena, and the Henning Clinic is where I received health care growing up. I love living in a small town!
