Background
Before attending graduate school, I worked as a nursing assistant for five years and enjoyed volunteering with the Muscular Dystrophy Association. I grew up in the Verndale area and graduated from Verndale High School. I am grateful to be back in my hometown near my parents, family and youngest brother. I also have a golden retriever named Jenny who is my pride and joy!
What inspired you to get into medicine?
Since high school, I enjoyed the biology classes, critical thinking, and lifelong learning that are important in science and medicine. I always admired the great health care in rural communities, which began during a health care internship after high school. This field has given me the opportunity to help promote healthy lifestyles and be there to help others through the many ups and downs in life.
Why choose Astera Health?
I always wanted to practice medicine in a supportive small town community. I was looking to be a part of a health care facility that continues to provide exceptional care to its patients along with having great providers, staff and nurses to provide this care. Astera offers all of this and much more.
What do you like to do in your downtime?
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, hunting, skiing and fishing. Outside of work, you can usually find me enjoying the beautiful lakes of Minnesota and supporting my brother at sporting events.
What is one interesting, unique or fun thing that most people may not know about you?
Music has always been a big part of my life and enjoy sharing it with others. I have played piano for 14 years and started playing at the age of 7. I continued this passion by completing a minor in piano.

A few days after my visit I started feeling better. Wasn't happy finding out I had covid, but the meds started helping by next morning.

On Astera site it says you can book all appts on line-can't seem to book physicals. I feel you should be able to just knowing you may need more time. If labs are an issue, feel a flag could go to a nurse to help with orders and scheduling.

I initially changed my care to Tri-County due to their willingness to accomodate my health share and accept payments until I was reimbursed, plus the cash discount/payment in full discount was appreciated. With the takeover of Astera, payment and the financial part of every visit seems to be more important than the care I get. I've worked in healthcare so I know that in order for it to continue payments need to be made, but I also feel that each indiviuals payment history needs to be taken into consideration. I have an excellent payment history with you. It's frustrating when I get 1-2 calls before every appointment asking for payment up front which makes me strongly consider looking for a different provider outside of the Astera system. When an annual wellness check requires several downpayments to recieve all the services that are recommended by my provider, it becomes a financial burden, which makes me postpone things like mamogram, etc. A delay in screening isn't ideal but your demand for payment makes it necessary.

Henning is nice and small. Made for quick appointment and didn't have to drive to Wadena.

I was very happy with the care during my surgery (carpel tunnel). The new hospital and clinic facilities are really nice to go to. Very clean and professional appearance.
